Lion Jack Sickafoose has ordered more throws and they should be delivered very soon.
Rose Day Chairman Larry Baylor reported he has ordered 265 dozen roses.
Lion Hicks reported Boy Scout Troop 38 has beeen given 50 phone books to sell.
DDG Jeff Snyder gave a brief report on many subject matters including that new posters for our club have been prespared by Lion Carol Snyder and himself. He also reported that he is selling raffle tickets for the Millersport Club of which our club recieves 50% of the proceeds. Several tickets were sold during the meeting. Patches have also been located for our Banner which reflects our sponsoring of Scouting in the community.
Sight Saving and Zone Promoter Chairman Jim Hunter gave his report for the Eye Foundation.
The Magnolia Lion's Club is very active in the Sandy Valley Community. We belong to LIONS CLUB INTERNATIONAL which is 1.4 million members strong and is the world's largest service organization. We have been united in a single cause: Helping the less fortunate all over the world. We are tackling the tough problems of blindness and diabetes along with sharing our services within our community. It was once stated if something important is taking place in the Valley, the Magnolia Lion's are most likely involved.
We provide glasses and eye exams to those in need through the Melvin Jones Eye Care Foundation.Lion Jim Hunter of the Magnolia Lion's is the Zone 7 Promoter.
We provide a Senior Citizen Christmas Dinner.
We provide a Halloween Party for the Children in the Community.
We have Highway Cleanups from Magnolia to Crossroads along Route 183.
We collect and sort used glasses for Magnolia Lion Dr. Brady Kail's trips to third world nations.
We have provided vision enhancement machines to individuals within our community.
We conduct a fundraiser for "Cross Eyed Missions" which is a local group that travels to third world nations to provide eye screening and glasses to those in need.
We conduct sight screening for the kindergarten students.
We support the Boys State & Girls State programs within our local school system.
We sponsor the local Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts.
We support many Athletic,Thespian & Academic activities within the Sandy Valley Schools.
We sell local phone books with the 866 exchange as a fundraiser.Books are available at Top Value Hardware in Waynesburg.
We are very active in the yearly Canal Days Festival and assist in stand setup. We also consider this our biggest fundraiser of the year. We sell Ice Cream and have Bingo and we also provide Hay Rides around the Village of Magnolia. The Lion's Drill Team marches in the Canal Days Parade and has won numerous awards performing various marching formations.
We contribute to the parade of checks at the District Convention. Donations are made to the Melvin Jones 13D Eye Care Foundation, the Pilot Dogs program, Site First, International Relations,American Diabetes and Camp Echoing Hills here in Ohio.
We also have two members of our club that help make up the comedy group "The Bugs". They have entertained many Lion's and Senior's over the years.
